Sponsor a Young Scholar

How does it work?

When you sponsor a child at Education First Cambodia, it means a major step forward for the children in our program.  Your support will help to ensure that children in EFC’s care are provided with quality education, food, and safety.  Our experience shows that sponsorship is a positive step forward in the lives of our children, and also in the lives of the sponsors.

Child sponsorship lifts a child out of a life of poverty, providing them with a broad-based education that will take them onto university or vocational training.

Sponsorship of a child requires a commitment of a $100/month donation. That covers the cost of the child’s Cambodian education, English language and computer training, and courses on topics such as life skills, art, sports and dance. It also covers the cost of food, school uniforms, study materials, medical care, and a safe place to do homework and receive tutoring in the evening.

Once your sponsorship is established, you will receive information about your sponsored child and a photograph. EFC’s staff will also provide updated information on your sponsored child to you on a regular basis.

You are encouraged to develop your own relationship with your sponsored child through letters, cards or e-mails. Our staff will help the child translate your e-mails from English into Khmer, and the child’s e-mails from Khmer into English. We ask that you write a minimum of one time per month, even if it is only a sentence or two. When children get a letter or e-mail from their sponsors, it means more to them than you can imagine.

You are also encouraged to come to Cambodia and meet your sponsored child! For more information on the procedures for visiting with your sponsored child, please see the
 EFC Sponsorship Guidelines.
