Education First Cambodia's Women Scholars Program requires that a student have both great potential and great need for admission; fewer than 10% of applicants are accepted. However, other qualified candidates fought hard to make it to university but will be forced to drop out if they cannot find additional support. This is particularly true during the Covid-19 pandemic, when many of the jobs typically held by students are not available.
In 2021, Education First Cambodia started its Essential Support Program to address these students' desperate need. Education First Cambodia currently supports six Essential Support students. Education First Cambodia pays these students' university tuition so that they can complete their degree and fulfill a goal they worked towards their entire lives. |
The cost of changing one of these young women's lives is astoundingly small by Western standards: only $600 per year. To support an Essential Support Program student, click here.
