Thanks to targeted fundraising by Abigail and Elizabeth Markowitz, in February 2017 the 24 EFC students visited Cambodia's architectural treasure and national pride, the temples at Angkor Wat. Every Cambodian dreams of seeing Angkor Wat, but except for the few students who grew up very close to the temples none of the EFC students (or any of their family members) had seen Angkor Wat. Their excitement at visiting the temples is hard to overstate, but what one student wrote to her sponsor before the trip will give some idea:
"It seem I am in my dream because I always want to go but I don't have chance owing to lack of money and I think one day when I have jobs and have enough money I will go, but now it is very early that day come...it is very great time that I have never thought. I cannot explain this feeling right now."

After the trip, a student wrote:
“I can not describe how much happiness i got from that time. I never dream that i will have a chance to visit wonderful temple in Angkor Wat. I would thank both of you for everything that made me get a new experience with all girls and amazing trip to learn more knowledge about my own country.”
